The Republicans of Wheeling Township ("ROWT," "we," "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use www.rowtgop.org, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Contact forms: name, email, phone, message content, and your area(s) of interest when you submit a form on this site.
  • Event RSVPs: name, email, and optional guest count when you RSVP for an event.
  • Newsletter signup: email address when you subscribe to ROWT announcements.
  • Membership and donations: name, email, address, and payment information when you become a member or donate. Payment card data is processed directly by Stripe; ROWT never stores raw card numbers.

Information collected automatically

  • Cloudflare Web Analytics: We use Cloudflare's privacy-first, cookieless web analytics to understand site traffic. No personal identifiers are associated with page-view data. No third-party tracking pixels or advertising cookies are set on this site.
  • Server logs: Standard HTTP request logs (IP address, timestamp, URL, user-agent) retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to your inquiries and process RSVPs
  • To send you event announcements and ROWT news if you opt in
  • To process donations and issue receipts
  • To comply with Illinois campaign finance disclosure requirements and federal law
  • To improve this website and our services

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

3. Donation Disclosure — Federal and State Law

ROWT is a political committee registered with the Illinois State Board of Elections. Donors contributing more than $150 in aggregate in a calendar year may be disclosed in ROWT's quarterly Illinois D-2 reports, which are public record. Federal contribution limits and disclosure rules apply for federal races where ROWT participates. Contributions to ROWT are not tax-deductible.

4. Data Sharing

We share personal data only as follows:

  • Stripe: payment processor for donations and membership fees. Stripe's privacy policy governs their handling of payment data.
  • Mailchimp: email delivery for ROWT announcements. Mailchimp's privacy policy governs their handling of email data.
  • Cloudflare: CDN, DDoS protection, and analytics. Cloudflare's privacy policy governs their handling of traffic data.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or lawful government request.
  • Bull Moose Strategy LLC: ROWT's contracted technology and marketing vendor. BMS administers this site and associated systems on ROWT's behalf under a data processing agreement.

We do not share personal data with any other third parties.

5. Data Retention

We retain donor and member records for 7 years following the last transaction, as required by the Illinois Campaign Financing Act. Newsletter subscriber records are retained until you unsubscribe. Contact form submissions are retained for 2 years.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your data (subject to our retention obligations under campaign finance law)
  • Opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" in any email we send or by contacting us directly

To exercise any of these rights, use our Data Deletion Request form or email info@rowtgop.org.

7. Cookies

This site does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. We use Cloudflare's cookieless analytics. A session cookie may be set for CSRF protection on form submissions. No persistent advertising cookies are set.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS on all pages, Cloudflare DDoS protection, and field-level encryption for sensitive donor data. No system is 100% secure; in the event of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you as required by law.

9. Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced via email to subscribers.
