On Thursday, July 23, 2026, the Arlington Heights couple charged with vandalizing our ROWT headquarters in January pleaded guilty. Brock McNerney, 72, a retired financial planner, and Moisette McNerney, 69, a retired special education teacher, admitted to misdemeanor charges of criminal damage to property and criminal defacement of property as part of a plea agreement before Cook County Judge Thomas Newinski at the Rolling Meadows courthouse.
Judge Newinski sentenced the couple to 18 months of court supervision, 100 hours of community service, a $100 fine plus court costs, and ordered them to write a letter of apology to our organization.
The vandalism occurred on January 25, when surveillance video captured the pair drawing swastikas and profanities on the windows of our office in the 900 block of Rand Road, throwing feces and an unknown liquid on the front door, and defacing a portrait of Charlie Kirk, the Arlington Heights native and conservative activist who volunteered at our office years ago as a Wheeling High School student.
“We look forward to receiving the apology letter the court ordered. We hope it will be soon and we hope it will be sincere. The people in our organization deserve that,” said Committeeman John Saletta following the hearing. He also expressed his respect for the court system, the law, and the Constitution, and thanked the judge, prosecutors, and police for their work on the case.
We are grateful to the members and supporters who have stood with us throughout this case — your support has meant a great deal to this organization. This chapter is closing, and we look forward to continuing our work together for Wheeling Township.
